*Seoul Fortress Wall of bukaksan(Mt.)

One of the best walks in Seoul is the path along Seoul Fortress Wall, especially the length between Sukjeongmun, which opened to the public in 2007, and Changuimun. It is not only readily accessible but also wooded, historical, and has great panoramic views of Seoul.

The area around Mt. Bukaksan had been forbidden 38 years to the public access as a military security area. But it was first open to Koreans from 1st April 2006, only the area from Hongryunsa temple to the Sukjeongmun gate to Chotdaebawi Rock(Candle stick's rock). Since 15th Aug. 2008, it has been opened to foreigners as well. They are required to make a reservation at least 1 week in advance.

Furthermore, since 5th April 2007, the whole area of  Mt. Bukaksan from Waryong Park passing by Sukjeongmun gate, the top[Baekak Maru(ridge) above 3] to Changeuimun gate(above 1~4) has been opened. 

1. Changeuimun(창의문) gate


You will have to present ID to enter Changuimun, which closes at 3 p.m. and on Mondays. Guided tours of the wall are available every day at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. How to go changeuimun - [Public transport] In subway Line 3 to Gyeongbokgung Station come out Exit 3. Get ride green bus #0212 , #1020, #7022 or take taxi at there can arrive within 2 minutes, and then walk to the shelter are changuimun. [Self drive] Turn left in front of Seoul City Hall → Sejong → Gwanghwamun → sajikro (Independence Gate Station) → National Palace Museum, turn right along the → → profiting right in front of the window changuimun mungil(road) → → changuimun.
